Health workers’ union issues 13-point Kathmandu declaration

Kathmandu, May 6 (RSS): Nepal Health Workers’ Union Central Working Committee has issued a 13-point Kathmandu declaration which also incorporates a demand for a smooth supply of medicines.
The two-day meeting of the committee concluded here recently demanded the government immediately make appointments on vacant quotas in rural and remote districts and other areas, improve physical condition of health institutions and its local-level offices, and manage for essential equipments there.
Mandatory implementation of the provision related to voluntary retirement scheme announced by the government through the Nepal Gazette, implementation of the constitutional provision about the presence of health ministry in province, allocation of rights of public health to the province and not to adjust health sector employees with the civil service are other demands put forth by the union, according to union president Ujjwal Kumar Sharma.
It has stressed on equal treatment to all employees working at the local level and other thematic sections.
